Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) has for many years held the promise to maximize an enterprise's workforce productivity.

commsbusiness.co.ukwp-contentuploads201303Website-Top-Banner-CoversSince mobile phones are ubiquitous and essential tools of modern life, the most efficient and competitive companies will tap these devices to improve the reach of business communications to encompass employees on the go.

But traditional mobile communications have hampered achieving these benefits, because mobile communications are outside the control of the typical enterprise. That has changed with the introduction of new enterprise mobile communications capabilities made possible by Tango Networks' acquisition of Simetric Telecom.

The transformation of FMC is the focus of an article published this week in Comms Business magazine, a leading magazine for the Information and Communications Technology channel.

In a Q&A interview, Comms Business editor David Dungay asked Tango Networks' Andrew Bale, GM of Cloud Services, and Gavin Sweet, head of products and services, about the transformation of FMC brought about by the acquisition last fall.

"The combined offerings will integrate 'mobile native' voice, text and data communications with enterprise telephony and applications," Sweet told the magazine. "That innovation will give enterprise customers a ubiquitous, global communications fabric, covering all employees in any location."

By integrating mobile communications directly into the enterprise's Unified Communications platform, the new combined service offering will give enterprise IT teams unprecedented levels of control over mobile communications.

"There is hunger in the market to properly integrate mobility with their UC platforms," said Bale, explaining that true integration of mobile and UC systems has previously been elusive but is now possible because of the unique technology and services offered by the combined companies.

Additionally, the merger of Tango Networks and Simetric Telecom is creating an important new opportunity for the ICT channel through the partnership with Gamma. "We are now Gamma’s exclusive partner to provide their 1200 partners with mobile services," Bale said.
